Competence 1

World view (cosmo vision) was the first course for the doctoral program and it was taught by Dr. Raquel Korniejczuk. It laid the foundations for an educational philosophy which would direct and circumscribe the tenor of thinking for the doctoral program and for life. That course allowed me to crystallize and distil the principles which would guide my life.

The best study of man is God. This lends objectivity to the study and divests the human instrument of natural, entrenched subjectivity. My understanding of myself and other human beings is in direct proportion to my understanding of God. This therefore presupposes an intimate relationship with Him and that therefore is the quest of my life: “That I may know Him” (Philippians 3:10)

I view the world through theocentric glasses. I attempt to interpret the past, present, and future from the divine perspective. History is His Story and it is therefore redemptive history. The present is God working out His plans for the world and His people. He is directing the present toward His predetermined future. I am not alarmed by the wicked past, the sordid present, or the gloomy future. God is in control.

My worldview is a biblical one. I believe in a literal six-day creation. I am a product of God’s creation; I am on this earth to reflect His image and likeness and represent Him in the world; and I have Him direct my living to prepare me to live with Him in the future. The preceding defines where I came from, why I am here, and where I am going. I have no ambiguity about my identity or my destiny.

I am a steward of life and all its bounties. My life belongs to God by creation and redemption. That sums up the gospel story. Part of my stewardship responsibility is to share that good news with those who do not know it. That defines my life’s calling.

In conclusion, the essence of my being is rooted in being a child of God. The Fatherhood of God translates into the brotherhood of man so every human being is my brother or my sister. The quest of my life is know God through His word and nature. My value system emanates from the Bible.
